All Star sliding head lathes can be equipped with a “long parts ejection” system. In addition bespoke parts collection boxes can also be supplied to collect the parts as they are transferred through the long parts guide tube. For the application adjacent a pull-out tray was installed to allow parts to be discharged and collected at the front of the machine in a separate removable container. The parts box is fully interlocked in-line with the cutting room door but can easily be removed from the machine for maintenance.
Parts boxes can also be supplied to suit low discharge conveyor systems. The parts box is supported by the conveyor hood and allows longer parts to be discharged from the lathes guide tube. Parts boxes are designed to suit the application, the adjacent parts box was installed to accommodate parts up to 850mm in length. The parts box is fully interlocked in-line with the cutting room door but can easily be removed from the machine for maintenance.
Parts separators are ideal for dividing batch quantities into more manageable sizes for inspection purposes. They are also the perfect addition to a machine that runs families of parts that need to be separated. The separator can accommodate up to 8 containers and can be rotated by a built in timer or M-code from the machine. In the adjacent application the separator is used to divide four types of medical screw produced consecutively on the lathe. The last part from each series (batch) is dispatched into a separate container for ease of inspection.
Star GB can also supply additional part conveyors. The conveyor can be run from a separate M-code signal to ensure parts discharged from the original conveyor do not fall on top of one another. In the adjacent application the 2nd conveyor is also fitted with an end stop and light beam sensor to ensure the machine stops production when the 2nd conveyor is full.
