A precision engineering firm which specialises in tool-making has been awarded for being the best UK family business in southern England and Wales, it has emerged.

Banbury-based Norbar Torque Tools won the £5 million to £25 million turnover category in the the prestigious Coutts Prize for Family Business 2009, meaning that the organisation will face other regional finalists in the national ceremony in central London on June 23rd.

The company is now in its third generation of family ownership and was the first company in the UK to use precision engineering techniques to produce the torque wrench.

Commenting on the award, chairman of Norbar Craig Brodey said: "We are very pleased to have won this award reflecting as it does both the pride and the hard work of everyone involved in Norbar."

The Coutts Prize for Family Business was launched in 2005 to highlight the commitment that such organisations provide.
